Somatostatic Study on External Nose in Korean Women of Early Twenties




Abstract
The somatostatic measurements of the external nose were performed in the ordinary and beautiful Korean ladies respectively, and the values in the two groups were compared to be applied as a guideline in the cosmetic rhinoplasty.
The beauty group in this study included the 25 girls who have passed the preliminary test in the Chunhyang beauty contest. The control group was composed of 25 ordinary looking college students who were in the same age group as the beauty group.
In each person, three photographs were taken and analysed ; frontal, lateral and basal views.
Nasofrontal angel and nasomental angel was more blunt and the nasolabial angle was more acute in the beauty group than in the control group. Nasofacial angel, mentocervical angle, columella-alar angle, nares angle, the ratio of columella and
alar,
nasal
projection showed no statistically significant difference between the beauty and the control groups.
